Reason for Reduction - Lids are a bit loose. They were thrown slightly too big and I took a chance hoping the shrinkage when firing would magically fix it!

Last year I bought a selection of secondhand 'overglaze decals' from a studio clear out sale. Overglaze decals are full colour designs which are applied to a piece after the glaze firing and fired for a third time. They are often used on commercial wares. These designs are all from the 1960s and 1970s, and evoke a cosy, familiar feeling as I am quite sure most of us have seen them on china at Nan's or older generations homes in the past!

These little boxes are perfect for holding jewellery or other small items like all the f*cks you have left to give 😆

They are thrown on the potters wheel from white stoneware clay in two pieces. Once leatherhard I turn the pieces and create two matching edges to fit together. I added the lettering in underglaze before firing, glazing and firing again. Finally I applied vintage floral overglaze decals and fired them for a third time.

Please bear in mind that I don't know how old the physical decals are or how they have been stored. The designs are from the 60s and 70s. I have experimented to find the right firing temperature for them. They appear to be properly affixed, but I can't guarantee if they will fade or wear in time.

**When making boxes, the lid and base are fired together with no glaze on the areas that touch. **
