CARE OF YOUR CERAMICS
The majority of my pottery is dishwasher and microwave safe. However, handmade ceramics are more delicate than factory-produced, so I recommend careful handwashing to protect against knocks and chips. In my experience of my own mugs, and those by other potters, an unlucky knock to the rim is the prime cause of cracks - be careful of your mug hitting other items in the sink, dishwasher or draining board.
Mugs with matte glaze may pick up tea stains more than those with shiny glaze. To clean, I recommend making a paste of bicarbonate of soda and giving a scrub with a sponge scourer (not a metal one youβd use for pans though!). To avoid stains, donβt leave tea or coffee sitting in a mug and rinse out after use.
If you have purchased an item that has gold lustre decoration, please note that this is NOT microwave safe (it is real gold!) and it should not go in the dishwasher. Do not use abrasive sponges on the gold areas.
Items with overglaze decals should not go in the dishwasher. Do not use abrasive sponges on the decals.
Raku fired items are not food safe and not fully water tight. They are best dusted with a soft cloth, but can be wiped with a damp cloth if necessary.
One of the wonders of ceramics is that (with care) they can last for generations. However, they can also be destroyed in an instant. The fact that the items I pour so much work and love into are breakable is one of the toughest parts of this profession. Unfortunately, I am not able to guarantee my work once it is out of my hands and has been delivered safely. If your item has arrived damaged, please see this page.
