"Tea" / "Coffee" Heart Tattoo Mug - Speckled Clay
This big, cosy mug is thrown on the potters wheel from speckled stoneware clay. Before the clay is fully dry, I hand-paint the coloured parts of the tattoo design. I then coat the design in a layer of wax resist, before carving the outline through to the clay below. Once the mug is bone dry I paint black underglaze into the outline and wipe the excess off of the wax resist. Finished with transparent glaze. You can see a video of the decorating process here.

9.5-10 cm tall, 10cm wide at base, 400ml-ish capacity (measurements are approximate). Gentle hand-washing recommended, can be used in dishwasher and microwave. Click here for more information on care of your item.
Right handed means if you hold the mug in your right hand the design faces away from your body - left handed means if you hold in your left hand the design faces away.
